WELCOME

On behalf of the staff, pupils, parents and governors, I would like to welcome you to our website at Primrose Hill Primary School.

Primrose Hill prides itself in providing a happy, safe, secure and supportive learning environment where good order and discipline are preserved to enable your child to achieve academic and personal excellence.

Confidence within a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. This website provides information you may require initially but it is only through personal contact with myself and the staff that mutual trust and understanding can develop, which should be the basis of our shared responsibility.

CLASSES

At present there are 170 children on roll organised into 7 classes. However numbers are growing , partly as a result of extensive housing development within the area but also due to the excellent reputation that the school has for giving all children a chance to achieve their potential. The school’s admission number in the infants is 30

OUR ENVIRONMENT

Classrooms are well furnished, all with adjoining resource areas providing access to extensive ICT facilities including interactive whiteboards within each classroom and additional accommodation for group and creative work. There is an excellent library with a computerised database and thumbprint identification which houses a comprehensive collection of books, videos and audio visual tapes. The large hall is used throughout the day for collective worship, PE, drama and music lessons as well as for dining.

The school is fortunate in having extensive grounds including playing fields, a nature garden, a tyre play park, a traversing wall, an outdoor classroom for learning, a football pitch and hard surface playground and car parks. An on-going programme of developments is planned to further enhance the outdoor learning environment.

FOCUS FOR 2010-2011

This year, following careful self-evaluation, we shall endeavor to improve  with targets of :-

  • Further maintain and improve standards of learning and teaching in order to raise attainment and achievement for all groups of pupils and by further developing the school's approach to personalisation of the curriculum entitlement for all pupils.
  • To raise standards across the curriculum through developing staff and children's skills in ICT, incorporating new software and technology.
  • In Mathematics, we aim to improve standards in maths with particular reference to mental and written methods, problem solving and counting.
  • To build on the development of assessment methods to ensure continued progress of our children and support other schools in the application of their assessment.
  • Further develop and nurture effectiveness of school within the community and continue to maximise opportunities for community cohesion.
