Fun with Friends from Frenchwood!
Saturday, 03 July 2010

We invited our partner school to Euxton Primrose Hill to have super day during National Sports Week.  The girls and boys from Frenchwood Primary, Preston came to join in with games and art activities.

When the children of Frenchwood arrived at Primrose Hill, we all met together in the hall.  Sally Davies, a resident artist,  was also there to greet them as she was working with the children for the day.  Before arriving, she had asked the children of Frenchwood to make different cultural designs and patterns on hands and Primrose Hill had made patterns involving nature.  These were then used to create designs for large wall hangings which were to be painted on fabric during the day.  These pieces of artwork will hang in our school halls once completed.

The aim of our partnership with Frenchwood is to allow  our children from both schools to learn about each other and each others' cultural backgrounds and differences.  This was a very rewarding day and the children made many new friends.

The girls started first, whilst the boys went on to the field for sports matches.

We had a great football and cricket match, helping the boys get to know each other really well.

The children of Frenchwood very much enjoyed using our playing fields and tyre play park.  Being an urban school means that they do not have these open spaces that we enjoy, being a more rural school.

The girls played games and rounders in the afternoon.  We are all looking forward to our next event and meeting in the autumn term.
