Theatre Visit to War Horse
Wednesday, 20 April 2011

A group of Year 5 and 6 children had a super opportunity to see the production of War Horse.

After focusing on the book "War Horse" by Michael Morpurgo, a group of Year 5 and 6 children had a super opportunity to see the production of War Horse.  This group spent some time in the weeks before their visit studying this book which looked at the perspective of a horse as it worked in the trenches of the Allies and Germans during World War I.

After leaving Euston Station, we walked to the Imperial War Museum to find out what life was really like in the trenches and during the the two World Wars.

We took in some really impressive sights whilst crossing the River Thames.

Here we are, arriving at the Imperial War Museum and were greeted by some of the biggest guns we had ever seen!  This was a super museum with incredible things to see inside.  There was even a realistic trench that the soldiers would have lived in during the war that we were able to walk through.

A short break on a very warm day.

Then it was a walk back across the Thames for lunch at Covent Garden and to Drury Lane, home of the New London Theatre.

This was a truly brilliant production which will not be forgotten!
