Dear Parents,
Y5 HOTHERSALL LODGE PARENTS’ MEETING – 8TH MARCH – 5.30PM
Just to remind you… parents of children in Year 5 are most welcome to come to a short meeting in Class 5 to receive information regarding the forthcoming residential visit to Hothersall Lodge. This is designed to allay any concerns and give you an opportunity to ask questions regarding this visit. It is also designed to help both parents and children become aware of what they need for the event and ensure their enjoyment is maximised by having the appropriate clothing and kit.
PARENTS’ OPEN EVENING – MONDAY 5TH MARCH
If you wish to see your child’s teacher on Monday at Parent’s Evening and have not yet returned the form, please contact the teacher, as times will now be limited. Thank you.
YEAR 5 - MUSICAL MADNESS/SHIPWRECKED – PARKLANDS HIGH SCHOOL
Again, just to remind you….. Year 5 are to attend “Musical Madness” on Friday 2nd March at 12.50pm and are expected to return at 4pm. Children will be given an early lunch and collected by Parklands High School to participate in this event. We hope they enjoy this event very much!
They have also been invited to attend Parklands High School again on the Friday 16th March to watch a French production called “Shipwrecked” as part of their French curriculum! We expect them to return to school at 3.30pm from this visit. I very much hope these minor changes to the end of the school day and pick up times does not cause any inconvenience.
FOOTBALL CLUB
This Thursday, I will be working away from school and will be unable to hold the club at the end of the day. The Club will be on as usual next week. Team members are reminded that the league matches will be held tonight after school. Children should aim to arrive before 4pm wearing their kits and coats.
NO MORE BOTTLE TOPS – THANK YOU
Thank you all for collecting bottle tops for Parklands. The collection has now closed and we have passed on all that have been brought into school. Thank you again.
SWIMMING Y6 & Y3
Swimming will begin at the end of this term for our Y6 and Y3 children. The sessions will take place at the All Seasons Leisure Centre.
Year 6 children will have their swimming sessions on Monday mornings starting on Monday March19th and every Monday morning until the end of the summer term. The coach will arrive at school at 8.30am. Registration will take place on the coach. They will return to school at approximately 10.20am. Unfortunately, children who forget swimming kits or miss the coach will have to work in school.
Year 3 children will have their swimming sessions on Tuesday afternoons starting on Tuesday 20th March and every Tuesday afternoon until the end of the summer term. The coach will be leaving school at 1.30pm and will return to school by 3.30pm. Again, children who forget their kit will have to work in school.
All children will need appropriate swimwear – full swimming costumes for girls, proper swimming trunks for boys (no shorts), a swimming hat and a towel in a suitable bag. Children are not allowed sprays of any kind.
Please complete the slip in order for your child to attend. Thank you.

HEADLICE
Unfortunately our efforts to eradicate headlice in school were not totally successful over the half term break. Can I please ask all parents to check their children’s hair carefully and treat any head lice found. Hedrin is a very effective product which is available at your local chemist. It is also free under the minor ailments scheme. Once children have been treated, they may attend school. They will however, require another application one week later.
PLEASE REMEMBER, WE ARE STILL COLLECTING…..
* Nestle Box Top Tokens * Mobile Phones with chargers * Batteries * Milk Bottle & Fruit Juice Bottle Tops
We are again collecting the Sainsbury’s vouchers. A collection box for these is situated in the entrance hall.
* CLOTHING/TOWELS/SHEETS etc which can be placed in the large blue bin at the rear of the school.
WALKING BUS
Just to remind you that the Walking Bus is available every day and is currently very healthily attended. Children seem to be enjoying the social life it offers each morning. A member of staff (usually Mr Shields or Miss Tallis) will arrive at Spar at approximately 8.25am and leave promptly at 8.30am for school. If you wish your child to join ‘the bus’, please inform Mr Shields.
