EASTER HOLIDAYS

Just to remind parents that we will close after school (club) this Friday 30th March and re-open on Monday 16th April for the Easter holidays.  I hope you all have a lovely break.

MENTAL MATHS ACTIVITY DAY – FRIDAY 30TH MARCH

This Friday, the last day of term, we are inviting all children to come to school dressed in their PE kit and wear their house team coloured T-shirt for the event. Classes will spend the day rotating around a number of physical and fun activities which are all linked to improving their mental maths skills.  Their success at each event will be measured along the way and the different house teams will receive a score which will be added at the end of the day.  A Mental Maths Cup will be awarded to the winning team in our assembly at the end of the day.                                               All children will be asked to take their PE kit home at the end of the school day tomorrow Thursday 29th so that they can come to school on Friday dressed in their kit with suitable pumps or trainers for the activities.

SCHOOL MAGAZINE

The school magazine club have just released their next publication and this will be a more significant edition.  The club would like to charge 50p to raise funds for the intensive care unit at Preston Royal Hospital. This was a request made by the children themselves, following the care Miss Barwise received, which I hope you will support.  You will be able to find a magazine stall at the end of the school day until Easter.

EASTER BONNET COMPETITION - FRIDAY 30TH MARCH

We will be running an Easter Bonnet competition this Friday 30th March 2012.  The children are invited to make an Easter hat to wear at the celebration assembly at the end of day on Friday, when a winner from each class will be chosen.  All children that participate will be rewarded with a small gift for their efforts! Good Luck!

THURSDAY FOOTBALL CLUB

There will be no Football Club tomorrow, Thursday 29th March due to Easter Games Night.

YOUR SAFETY

Recently, I have noticed many parents & children using the school driveway as their route into the school.  Can I kindly request that only the pathways be used in the interests of everybody’s safety.  Vehicles regularly enter the driveway (at speed) and it is only a matter of time before an accident occurs.  I would very much appreciate your support with this matter.

DINNER MONEY & SCHOOL DINNERS

Dinner money due this Friday, 30th March will be the usual £10 for the first week back after Easter, unless you receive a note to the contrary.  As usual, we would ask that if your child wishes to change from packed lunches to school dinners or vice-versa for the next half-term, please inform the school in writing by this Friday morning, 30th March in order for the cook to adjust her orders accordingly.  Thank you.
There will be an exciting new menu introduced after the Easter holidays for school lunches.  As part of these changes children will have the option to choose a school packed lunch (see details attached).  These will be for school dinner children only as an added choice and charged at the same price as the hot lunches (£2 each), but children must let Pat know on arrival at school if they wish this choice.  Menus are displayed throughout the school, so children can see the choices for the week and make an informed decision.  Unfortunately Pat cannot accept orders for these packed lunches after 8.45am

.
TOAST MONEY

If your child would like to have toast at morning break prepared by Pat our cook next half term, the cost will be £6.60.  Please fill in the slip and return it by this Friday morning 30th March.  Thank you.

EASTER GAMES NIGHT

Thank you so much for all your chocolate eggs that you have generously donated to our Easter Games Night.  This will be held tomorrow, Thursday 29th March 2012 at 6.30pm.  This event has become a most popular event during the school year, and a great favourite with both parents and children alike.  As usual there will be a variety of activities throughout the evening, including, quizzes, spin the wheel, bingo, chocolate tombola, raffle and a decorate the egg competition (children have to bring pre decorated hard-boiled eggs) etc.  To make the evening more sociable, parents are invited to bring along their own ‘liquid refreshments’ and nibbles (not forgetting glasses, corkscrews etc).  Admission will be £1 on the door for adults with primary aged children free.  Please note, all children must attend with an adult.
The children have been shown an enormous egg which is to be raffled at the event.  Please send your children with some money if you wish them to purchase any raffle tickets.  They will be 20p each and sold by our children at break and lunchtimes.
To enable this evening to be as successful as it always has been, we need helpers on the night.  Please fill in the attached slip if you can give a little of your time during the evening and return it to school tomorrow.  Thank you.

Y6 CYCLING PROFICIENCY

As usual we will be offering our Year 6 children the opportunity to take part in Cycling Proficiency.  Bike checks will be held on Wednesday 18th April and Wednesday 25th April (children will be told which group they will be in at a later stage).  The cycling module will take place on Friday 25th May and Monday28th May (after swimming).  These will be 2 full days of training and children are asked to bring appropriate clothing in case of inclement weather.  More details will follow after the Easter holidays.
