Your child will receive two reading books each week and will be collected in on a Tuesday to be changed. The reading books are chosen and matched specifically to the phonics sounds we have learnt each week and will enable children to apply them in their reading. Home reading should be completed at least three times a week to ensure they meet the reading targets for school. Children are also given a log in for Bug Club which is an app that can be used on computers, iPads or tablets. Bug club has electronic books that are also matched to their reading level and offers a variety of decodable texts. Due to COVID 19, books will now be quarantined for at least 48 hours before sending them home to new households.
Maths challenges will be sent out on a Wednesday along with their reading books. The maths challenges link to skills we have been learning in class and are fun, practical activities that children enjoy completing.
Home writing books
In the spring term children will bring home a writing book which will be collected in on a Wednesday. This is an opportunity for the children to write anything they have done at the weekend, something they are proud of or for sharing their likes and interests. We love it when the children have a go at writing it themselves, add photos or draw their own pictures as the books will be shared with their friends in class.
