  • Maple class teaching reception class some new nursery rhymes

    Thu 19 Oct 2023 L.Smelt

Maple class had the honour of some of Reception Class joining us for a wonderful storytelling and nursery rhyme session. Maple had made their puppets especially for the occasion, and everyone had a fabulous time singing nursery rhymes and telling stories. It was great to see our year 2 children rising to the challenge and enjoying teaching some of the younger children. It was great to see their confidence build and how tall they stood by the end of the session!
Thank you for joining us Reception children. Well done Maple!

  • Yoga in Maple

    Tue 17 Oct 2023

Maple class had a truly relaxing time with the Yogi group earlier this week. We breathed deeply, stretched, noticed and relaxed our busy bodies and minds, and discussed the importance of looking after our whole self, body and mind, for World Mental Health day.
Thank you Yogi group for a wonderful experience.

  • Maple class puppet making in DT

    Mon 09 Oct 2023 L.smelt

Maple class have thoroughly enjoyed researching, designing, sewing and decorating hand puppets, perfect for helping our new Reception Class learn and enjoy poetry, in the form of nursery rhymes.

The children showed real resilience when faced with the challenge of sewing felt and let their imaginations run free, when designing the faces and clothes for the puppets. We think the results were absolutely fabulous!

    What superstars!

  • DT Making puppets in Elm Class

Thu 28 Sep 2023 Miss Pearson

Our project this term was to design a puppet to help Reception children learn a nursery rhyme in their first few weeks of school.  We looked at how puppets worked and designed our own puppets based on a nursery rhyme character.

We then practised sewing on binca before learning to join two pieces of fabric together.

We learned all about designers and people who are excellent sewers, and we all want to be Esme Young or Patrick Grant from the Great British Sewing Bee!

We loved making our puppets and we hope you like the results.

  • Year 3 Stone Age Day - Fire Making

Tue 19 Sep 2023 Miss Dobbs

Year 3 had an amazing day despite the heavy rain, and all successfully managed to light a fire using a fire steel. Plenty of determination and patience was needed as it was a very tricky task, but everybody managed to do it. The children especially enjoyed toasting marshmallows at the end.

  • Pendle DT Ice Lollies

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Miss Dobbs

Pendle Class enjoyed designing and making their own healthy ice lollies. They chopped and blended their fruit and juice together before putting them in the freezer. Luckily the sun came out so they could enjoy the finished product in the sunshine!
