Remote Learning

At Euxton Primrose Hill Primary School, we want all children to be able to continue their education if the school is unexpectedly closed or circumstances prevent pupils from attending school.

Remote learning is a contingency arrangement and would be activated when appropriate, for example during an unexpected school closure or an exceptional situation where pupils are unable to attend school for a period of time.

How will my child access their learning?

  • All pupils from EYFS to Year 6 will access remote learning through their Showbie account.

  • If remote learning is activated, learning will normally be made available within one working day of the school being informed, where appropriate.

  • Additional online learning resources are also available through the Homework section in the Parent section of our website. Where required, your child will have the login details needed to access these resources.

What will my child's learning look like?

Within your child's Showbie account, you will find an overview of the learning to be completed each day.

Learning will include a range of curriculum areas and will be planned to provide an appropriate level of challenge and continuity with the learning taking place in school.

Where possible, activities will link to the curriculum and topics being taught in school so that children can continue to develop their knowledge and skills.

Children should complete their learning to the best of their ability, with appropriate support from parents and carers.

The amount and type of learning provided will take account of your child's age, stage of development and individual circumstances.

What if we don't have access to a device or the internet?

We understand that not every family will have access to a suitable tablet, computer or laptop, or reliable internet access.

Please let the school know if your child has any barriers to accessing remote learning. We will do all we can to support families and, where appropriate, provide an alternative way for your child to access their learning.

Where funding is available, the school will seek to support access to suitable devices or internet connectivity, with priority given to pupils who may be disadvantaged by a lack of access.

Additional Online Learning Resources

Teachers may signpost children to additional online resources to support the learning provided through Showbie. Where possible, these resources will complement the learning taking place in school.

A note for parents and carers

These resources are provided to support the learning provided through Showbie. They are not intended to replace the learning provided by your child's teacher.

Teachers will direct children to specific resources where these are relevant to their learning. You do not need to use every resource listed above.

We will not direct families to resources that require a subscription or payment in order to access learning provided by the school.

Contact with Pupils and Parents

If remote learning is activated, parents and carers will be able to contact the school if they require support.

Email: office@primrosehill-euxton.lancs.sch.uk

Teachers will communicate with pupils through Showbie and provide information about the learning to be completed.

Providing Feedback

Pupils can submit completed work to their class teacher through Showbie.

Where children complete work away from their device, parents and carers can keep the work safely and, where appropriate, share it with the teacher when the child returns to school.

Teachers will provide feedback on pupils' work where appropriate, taking account of the nature and amount of work submitted.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remains a priority during any period of remote learning.

If remote learning is activated because the school is closed or circumstances prevent pupils from attending school, the school will maintain appropriate contact with pupils and families in accordance with our attendance and safeguarding procedures.

Staff will follow the school's normal procedures for identifying and responding to concerns about a child's welfare. Any safeguarding concern will be referred to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and managed in accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

If the school is unable to establish appropriate contact with a child or family where contact is required, this will be followed up in accordance with the school's safeguarding and attendance procedures.

Data Protection and Online Safety

Staff will use school-approved systems and devices when accessing or sharing information relating to pupils.

Staff will use their official school accounts when communicating with pupils and families and will follow the school's data protection, online safety and acceptable use requirements.

Personal data will only be collected, accessed or shared where this is necessary and appropriate. Staff will ensure that only the minimum personal information required is used and will handle information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the school's data protection procedures.

Pupils and families are expected to use online learning platforms safely and responsibly. Any concerns about online safety should be reported to the school.
