The children have loved exploring the ice this month. They came up with lots of ideas of how to melt the ice. This created curiosity and ‘what if?’ questions. They wanted to pour different salts and liquids onto the ice to see if it would melt.  We tried rock salt, sea salt, sand, food colouring, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar but came to the conclusion that heat was the best way to melt ice. We put ice in our artic small world have enjoyed melting it with our hands to turn it back into water.
