PHSE – Fire Safety in Year 2

What an exciting afternoon we all had in Year 2 when Firefighter Daryll came to speak to us all about fire safety.
 

We watched a video all about making a fire plan and Daryll told us about checking our fire alarms in our homes. 

Daryll had come to visit us in the fire engine and whilst he was talking he was called out to go to a fire! This left us all to talk about creating a fire plan and we even created a little role play of what we would do if their was a fire in our house.

Just as we were finishing our play Daryll came back to tell us that it was just a smoke alarm that went off and he had rushed back to continue to talk to us ! We thought he looked fantastic in his protective clothing and he was able to show us how thick and heavy the coat was . 

At the end he had an important message about pets. He told us not to stop to collect our pets because they were clever and could sense if there was a fire, and he said they would get out on their own.
