DT – Making puppets in Maple Class

For our DT lessons, the children in Maple class have created their own puppet, based on a character from a Traditional Tale, which links nicely with our earlier topic of Traditional Tales with a Twist.

First, the children had to draw around a template onto felt and cut their puppet out. They then used a needle and thread to sew it together. It was tricky at first but they persevered.

After the children had finished sewing their puppet, they cut out felt to create their design. There are a mixture of designs, such as Little Red Riding Hood, wolves, trolls, Goldilocks and the Gingerbread man.

Some children got together and created their own Traditional Tale with their characters and created play scripts.

Can you recognise any of the characters below?
