Our Jewish Visitor visits Elm Class - Y2

What an amazing morning we had when Amy came to visit us to tell us all about her faith. As a Jewish woman she was able to tell us about learning Hebrew as a Child at school so that she could say her prayers in Hebrew as well as reading the Torah Scroll.

She talked to us about the rituals of Shabbat which starts when the first three stars are spotted in the sky on Friday night, and she told us about the prayers she says whilst lighting the Shabbat candles.

Some children were able to try on some clothing, such as a kippah and a prayer shawl.

Finally we all had a go at writing a symbol for each of the 10 commandments in Hebrew.  We think you will agree we all did amazing well.

Thank you so much for visiting us Amy.  We had great fun !
