  • Chocolate Rock Classifying in Rivington

    Continuing our science topic about rocks, we looked into the different types of rock using a very memorable tool, chocolate! We tried to sort different types of chocolate into sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock groups based on our observations. Which type is your favourite bar?
  • Year 6 - Bikeability

    Over the past two days, year 6 have completed their Bikeability road safety  sessions. These sessions are vital to ensure that we are cycling safely on the road. Luckily, the weather has been nice to us and everyone has gained some valuable experience. We would like to thank the Chorley Sports Partnership for their excellent coaching skills. 
  • Chocolate rocks in Pendle!

    In Science the children learnt about the 3 types of rocks - igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. After observing and discussing the properties of each type, they were set the task of classifying some chocolate bars based on this. They had look for features such as layers, grains and holes. 
  • Year 6 class assembly - 23rd September

    This week our assembly focus has been ‘Perseverance’. After some personal reflection time, we set ourselves a perseverance challenge. The children had a few minutes to create a structure using only marshmallows and spaghetti. It was great to see some perseverance in action and some fantastic team structures. Well done Everest class!
  • Athletics in Rivington

    In our Athletics PE lessons, we have been focusing on ‘Personal Bests’, trying to improve our speed, agility and jumping. We’ve worked in teams to create activities which will help us do this and will keep recording our progress. 
  • Pendle - Story telling in the woods

    In English lessons, year 3 are reading Stone Age Boy. The story begins with a boy walking in the woods. We challenged the children to orally retell the main events of the story as they walked through the woods and spotted pictures from the book. 
  • Testing rocks in Pendle Class

    As part of our Rocks topic, the children were challenged to find the best rock for a statue. They tested how hard or soft each rock was and also whether they were permeable or impermeable. 
  • Super Sorting in Science

    Super Sorting in Snowdon!

    Today the children learn about the properties of solids, liquids and gases.

     

    They then sorted different items into the correct groups.
