  • Year 5 talk about finance

    Thu 31 Mar 2022

On Wednesday, Miss Worthington visited year 5 to talk about her role in finance. In an interactive session, the children were challenged to calculate costs and profits and could see the effect of changing the prices of products on sales. We may have some budding entrepreneurs in year 5!

  • Computing - Photoshopping in Elm Class

Wed 30 Mar 2022 Miss Pearson

Our project this half term was to try to make a ‘Wish you were Here’ postcard as if we had travelled to an interesting place in the world.   We started by tinkering on Pic Collage and discovered the clipping tool almost straight away. What fun we could have.  We found pictures on the internet of places we would like to visit, from London or Scotland to the Leaning Tower of Pisa ! We had to make sure we looked like we were there.

I am sure you will agree we have done an amazing job !

  • Y2 Brilliant Book Award Voting

Wed 30 Mar 2022 Miss Pearson

So the time has come for Elm Class to vote in the Brilliant Book Awards for Lancashire.  We have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the stories and they have become part of our “classroom favourites” basket.

The voting was very close and we have submitted our results. We will find out who the winner for Lancashire is very soon!

  • DT - Vehicles in Elm Class

Wed 30 Mar 2022 Miss Pearson

Our vehicles project this term was a fantastic learning opportunity to explore wheels, chassis and axles. We started by looking at Reception toys and decided to try to make a range of vehicles for them to play with .

We practised with construction card before using a net to create our own chassis.  We used straws as axle holders and completed our design to look like vehicles we would find in Euxton. We even had a go at using a hacksaw , supported by Miss Pearson of course!

    We hope you like them.

  • Cedar Class trip to Farmer Teds Adventure Farm.

    Wed 30 Mar 2022 Mrs.Hacking

On Friday, Cedar class went to Farmer Teds. In the morning, the children had a wonderful time stroking, meeting and learning about a wide range of animals. At lunchtime, we had fun eating together and then we watched the Shaun the Sheep show. Before we left, we had chance to see the piglets and obviously explored the various adventure areas.

The children were amazing and we were so proud of their behaviour, listening skills and co-operation. They represented Primrose Hill beautifully, what a class of superstars!

  • Ash Class trip to Farmer Teds Adventure Farm.

    Sat 26 Mar 2022

On Friday, Ash Class had a fantastic day on their trip to Farmer Ted’s.  We got to meet, stroke, comb and learnt many new facts about animals.  We enjoyed lunch together in the sun and finished our day watching the Shaun the Sheep show and then having fun on the adventure park area.

We were so proud of Ash Class throughout the day for their manners, listening and behaviour - they were a credit to Primrose Hill.  A great day was had by all!

  • Cross Country and Fun Run at Astley Park

    Sat 26 Mar 2022 Mrs.Hacking

What amazing weather our runners had today, competing in team and individual events at Astley park.
Mrs.Clements, Miss.Fowler and I couldn’t have been more proud of all of the competitors today. Congratulations to all our runners, not only did you demonstrate great running technique but you also showed drive, determination, co-operation and teamwork. What a show of support for each other too, with older team members running alongside younger team members to encourage them, demonstrating true Primrose team spirit.
    Well done everyone. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🏅

  • Reception- walk around the local area

Tue 22 Mar 2022 Miss Blackwell

The children enjoyed a walk around the local area. We looked at different types of houses and buildings. On the walk we passed the doctors, library, and the local shops. In the afternoon we made a 3D map of our journey as a class then the children made their own maps.

  • Planting in Rivington

    Tue 22 Mar 2022

As Science Week’s theme this year was growth, we decided to update our class planters. We’ve planted butterfly, bee and insect friendly plants to encourage the ecosystem right outside our window. We’re really looking forward to seeing them grow! 🌱

  • Y5 Mont Blanc

    Thu 17 Mar 2022

Mont Blanc made a big difference to the school by planting nearly two dozen trees in the field next to the current woodland and on the school field. Hopefully, in the years to come, we will all benefit from the rowan, silver birch, wild cherry and other native trees donated by the Woodland trust.
