  • Investigating soil samples in Pendle Class

    Pendle Class have been finding out about rocks, fossils and soils in their Science lessons. They have written some excellent factual accounts about the famous fossil hunter Mary Anning and have enjoyed making observations and comparing soil types from our school woodland and a garden in Southport. We used the digital mapping tool Digimaps to find these locations and discussed why the soil samples might have been different.

  • Music lessons in Pendle Class

    We have really been enjoying our music lessons in Pendle Class. We have been finding the pulse in a piece of music and have composed a simple melody on the glockenspiels, playing the notes C, D, E, F and G. We are also busy learning our Christmas songs ready for our performance.

    We loved the start to our new Maths topic today when we were investigating and recognising coins. It was great fun trying to find all the different shapes and values of the coins. 
     

  • Oral Health and Dentist Visitor

    The children have been learning all about how to take care of their teeth.  The children were shown how to brush their teeth and then had a go at using a toothbrush on our mouth model. They were very good at sorting out what foods were good for our teeth and food we can have as a treat. Today we had a special visitor, Karem's mum is a dentist and kindly came to talk to us about why we should visit, the tools they use and what food is good for our teeth.

    This week was anti bullying week and we all came to school in odd socks.  We realised that we all have lots of differences , but those differences make us special !

    We loved supporting Children in Need today and we have raised over £250 pounds up to now in school .  Look at our wonderful outfits ! 

  • Y2 Geography - Marvellous Maasai Necklaces

    We had great fun today learning about the Maasai tribes in Kenya.  We are learning bout life in a Kenyan village and found out lots about Maasai culture.

     

    as a treat we were able to make our own Maasai necklaces, which are worth to show a persons’s riches.  We said we were rich in love and happiness not money ! 
     

     

  • Stone Age art in Pendle Class

    This week Pendle Class became Stone Age artists. They went outside to gather twigs, leaves and other natural items to use as painting tools. They also had a go at making their own paint using charcoal, mixing paints to make the same paint colours used in the cave paintings, experienced drawing on a wall and even experimented with how to make paper look like a rocky cave wall.

     

  • Lego man raft in Cedar class

    In science, Cedar class have been learning about everyday materials. They have investigated whether these materials are waterproof or not. The class worked carefully when designing and making a waterproof raft to keep a Lego man dry. They enjoyed testing their rafts and discussing their designs as they were all different and some rafts had some special features. 🛶 👨 

  • Healthy Heroes

    Tonight the Healthy Heroes learnt about different implements used in the kitchen. They used peelers to grate carrots and then they carefully used ‘the claw’ and ‘the bridge’ to cut carrots and celery before tasting. 🥕 🥗
