    Year 6 absolutely shone this morning at our MacMillan Coffee Morning! They were well-mannered, helpful and brilliant salespeople! A big thank you to anyone who came along to raise money for such a worthy cause.

    The children have settled into school fantastically and all made new friends. They have been very busy learning in and outside of the classroom. The children have responded to stories with pictures, learnt how to use split pins, printed Autumn trees and planted bulbs. Take a look at all the fun we have had this month! 

  • Exciting Electricity in Year 6 K2

    Year 6 had an exciting science lesson tinkering with our electricity construction kits. They were fascinated by just how much they could achieve using simple circuits. We had flying turbines and alarms blaring, but the children loved every second! 

  • Harvest time!

    Some of the after school club helped Miss McKinley to take advantage of the brief spell of dry weather and harvest from the vegetables planted last term. This is the third harvest of beans!

  • Electricity - Year 6 Everest

    In Science, Everest have been learning about electricity and circuits. After experimenting with simple circuits, Everest had a chance to use the new kits bought by Miss McKinley.

    Y6 had a fabulous two days least week with Chorley Sports Partnership. They have completed Stage 1 of their cycle training and are looking forward to completing the final stage after half term. In PSHE, we have also looked at the importance of staying safe whilst cycling. 

  • Stone Age Day - Shelter Building

    To keep ourselves safe from Stone Age predators (and the rain), we built shelters using canes, rope and 'animal skin' tarpaulins. The children had to problem solve and work as a team to ensure they had a safe place to shelter. We were very impressed!

  • Y5 Olympus - Blackburn Rover Move to Learn

    Another session with Blackburn Rovers - this time about the importance of exercise and a balanced diet. It was a challenge to guess the words some groups created with their actions! Great fun was had by all.

  • Stone Age Day - Jewellery Making

    As part of Stone Age Day, the children learnt about how Stone Age people used animal bones and antlers to create jewellery. The children enjoyed shaping salt dough into animal teeth and also plaited a necklace to be able to wear them. Plenty of concentration was needed!

  • Exploring the features of an Anglo-Saxon settlements

    Before our visit to a Saxon village later this week, Snowdon class spent time today thinking what the villages in Saxon times may have looked like. The children thought about crops, homes, water sources and other key features needed in the past. We had some interesting chat about wether or not they would have a supermarket or a petrol station!
