  • Celebrating the Jubilee in Elm Class

Mon 30 May 2022 Miss Pearson

We had a wonderful time on the last day of term when we thought about what rules we would make if we were Queen or King for a day . We played with Pic Collage so we could attach our face onto the body of a real Monarch , and then we painted portraits of our Queen in the style of Andy Warhol. We hope you like our results .

    Fri 27 May 2022

Our History unit this term has been castles. We have learned about their features, locations and what life might have been like in the past if you lived or worked in a castle.

We used our knowledge from this History unit and applied it in DT when learning about structures. We designed and built our very own sturdy castles and are very proud of them!

  • Zog PE in Ash Class

    Fri 27 May 2022

In PE this half term we have been developing our fundamental movements and have linked them to the story of Zog by Julia Donaldson from our English unit about stories by the same author. We have really enjoyed practising to throw over arm and underarm, which we pretended was Zog breathing out fireballs, zigzagging around cones like Zog flying through the sky and jumping and landing like Zog does when he takes off flying and then lands safely down on the ground. We also used the climbing frame to practise climbing up the tower to rescue the princess. It was lots of fun and we got more confident each lesson.

The children in Ben Nevis class were treated today by learning from a World War Two expert, Professor Micheal Paris, a former senior lecturer at The University of Central Lancashire and published author.

Firstly, the children wowed Professor Paris with their knowledge of World War Two. He then shared his extensive knowledge around the topic of the Battle of Britain as well as sharing a range of sources. What a fantastic afternoon we all had.

We have had such a busy, exciting week this week. On Tuesday, as part of our ‘Growing’ theme, Robert’s mum brought her baby into school. We were all very interested and asked a lot of questions about babies and how they grow. Robert was very proud! On Wednesday we all made Union Jack flags for the Queen’s Jubilee. We looked at some pictures of the Queen when she was a little girl and at her coronation. On Thursday Mrs Price brought in some guinea pigs for RE. We talked about what needs to be done to look after them properly.
