  • October in Reception

    To celebrate our class Ted's birthday we made paper chains, printed wrapping paper for pass the parcel and learnt how to write cards and invitations. 

     

    We also learnt how to use a new app called 'Chatterpix' where we could make a character talk using our voices. 

     

    In P.E we have been practicing jumping, hopping and landing safely off apparatus. 

  • Cedar Class making a nest in Forest School

    What a wonderful time we had today in Forest School, learning about how many different types of nests there are and all the various animals that build them. Then we built a class nest together, thinking about building up the sides and making the interior all soft and cosy.

  • Cedar Class learning to program using Scratch Jnr

    On Thursday, Ian from Apple, came to teach Cedar Class how to use ‘Scratch Jnr’, a programming App. The children enjoyed learning how to create a code to make a character move around the screen and even chose their own background. We had a very exciting morning and learnt lots of new skills, which we enjoyed sharing with each at the end of the lesson.

  • Playing the glockenspiel in Cedar Class

    This week to finish our music lessons this half term Cedar Class learned how to play the Glockenspiels. 

  • Making rafts in Cedar Class

    This week Cedar class have enjoyed creating a waterproof raft to keep a Lego man dry to complete our Science topic on Materials. 

  • Y5 Salmesbury Hall trip

    Today year 5 visited Samlesbury Hall today as part of their history topic on the Tudors. The children learn a lot both on their tour and on their independent exploration of the hall and grounds. Lots of photos led to some excellent keynote presentations.

  • Y5 Science - forces

    Year 5 have been learning about forces over the last few weeks: considering upthrust when building a boat/raft and investigating the effect of pulleys and levers.

  • Visitor- Reverend Gordon

    Reverend Gordon visited Reception this afternoon to help us celebrate Harvest. He talked about saying thank you for our food and the people who help us. 

  • Environmental Poetry

    Snowdon class really enjoyed taking part in a live lesson on National Poetry Day. They really enjoyed creating poems, they tried to include different poetic devices such as alliteration, similes, personification and metaphors.

  • Using Keynote

    Snowdon class were lucky enough to work with Ian Wilson, an Apple distinguished educator last week. He showed the class how keynote could be used to create an app! The children very quickly took on board his ideas and made some great educational apps all about Saxons. They learnt how to link pages, incorporate animations and create backgrounds.
