  • Pendle Class reading play scripts

    Today Pendle Class got to read different play scripts as part of our new English unit. They really enjoyed getting into character and delivering their lines with plenty of expression! 

  • Pancake Day in reception

    Reception had a wonderful time cooking and tasting pancakes with Mrs Higson. We talked about the ingredients, the utensils we would need and wrote down the instructions together of how to make them. The favourite topping of the day was chocolate.

  • Chinese New Year

    We loved learning all about the festival Lunar New Year. The children made lanterns, listened and acted the story ‘The Great Race’ and to finish our week off, we had our own dragon parade with music and instruments. 

  • RSPB Big School Birdwatch

    The children in EYFS have all taken part in the Big Schools Bird Watch this half term.

    They have learnt about different types of garden birds, done some detailed observational paintings and used their number skills to count how many birds we saw in the woods. 

  • An Introduction to L.S Lowry in Cedar class

    We have enjoyed learning about the life of one of our famous artists L.S Lowry.

    We have looked carefully at a few of his landscape paintings, focusing on the ‘matchstick  people’ and discussed the five colours he used.

  • EYFS CSSP Balance Biking Festival

    The children had a wonderful morning riding their balance bikes and competing against other local schools. They did themselves and school proud. Well done.

  • Children’s Mental Health Week

    This week Key Stage 1 have discussed Children’s Mental Health week and the theme this year which is: Let’s Connect.

    Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing.

  • Daily Read Aloud in Ash Class

    We love our daily story time in Ash Class. We have an extra special one each Friday when one of the children bring in a story from home to read to the rest of the class. They even get to sit in the ‘Storyteller’s Chair!’ This week we listened to ‘Mog’s Birthday’ by one of our favourite authors, Judith Kerr.

    Pendle Class enjoyed using our new class set of keyboards to type up their Roman non-chronological reports using the pages app. 

  • Y5 science - creating clean water

    Year 5 were challenged to produce clean water from dirty water using what they had learnt from previous lessons. Despite some setbacks (and a lot of mess!), they succeeded. 😁 Teamwork, perseverance,determination and resilience were all needed and they should all be very proud of themselves.
