  • Grenadier Guards Rehearsals at Parklands

Thu 27 Feb 2020 Miss Pearson

Our Brass players from Year 4 , Year 5 and Year 6 had an amazing afternoon at Parklands High School today when they took part in rehearsals for their evening performance with the Grenadier Guards for parents and friends .  It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and having a great time.  We sounded amazing and we are sure the evening performance will be a great success.

We practised all our three pieces alongside the quintet from the Grenadier Guards and pupils from Parklands High School Band.  We had great fun and we look forward to our evening performance .

We have really enjoyed our Science unit on Animals and the Habitats. The children worked really hard to research an endangered animal and presented their work in fantastic Non-Chronological reports.

  • Year 2 Maple class trip to Bury Transport Museum

Wed 26 Feb 2020 Mrs Di Franco

We had a wonderful day today!

We arrived at Bury Transport Museum and we met our guide, Keith. He showed us around the museum floor and we saw all sorts of vehicles from the past. We discussed how transport had changed, particularly how wheels had been modified over the years from steel to rubber tyres. We saw how some transport was pulled by horses and how this changed with engines.

We then swapped groups with Elm class and it was our turn for Design Technology.

We discussed how vehicles move and then tested how to get our wheels to turn with the equipment. The children all managed to build a moving vehicle with axles and wheels and even tested how they moved down a ramp.

We had our lunch and then we were free to explore the museum. There was so much to see!

Thank you Bury Transport Museum. We had a fantastic day!

  • Beech and Oak- Policeman Visit

Tue 25 Feb 2020 Miss Blackwell

We were very excited to have PC Scott in to talk about how he can help and keep us safe. He let us try some of his special uniform on and look at some of his equipment in his bag and on his protective vest. The children wrote some lovely thank you letters and talked about what they enjoyed the most.

    Thank you PC Scott!

  • Y3 Pentatonic Scales in Music

Mon 24 Feb 2020 Miss Fowler
Rivington Class put their musical skills to the test today with a post-half term challenge! Using the familiar song 'Old McDonald Had a Glockenspiel', the children were given a starting note...and then set off to work out the rest of the notes needed to play the tune! Using their knowledge of pitch, repetition and pentatonic scales (using 5 notes), the children managed to work their way through the tune and crack the notes needed to perform the song accompanied by some fantastic singing! Which song shall we tackle next?
  • Year 3/4 Sports Hall Athletics

Mon 24 Feb 2020 Miss Fowler
What an amazing success the Year 3 and 4 Athletics Competition was for us! Team Primrose certainly looked the part in their matching kit and went in with an excellent attitude and determination. Throughout many tense heats of different events, we made it through to the finals, a very much deserved privilege. As the competition hotted up, Team Primrose were an absolute credit to the school with their unending resilience and exemplary sportsmanship. Every single team member gave both the heats and the final their full effort and did themselves (and everyone else) proud. Apologies for the quality of some photos, the children were just too fast for me!

  • Reception

Fri 14 Feb 2020 Miss Blackwell
The children have been learning the story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The talk for writing really helped us  to understand new vocabulary and write all about it. They were able to tell the whole story without many prompts (video hopefully to be uploaded soon). We have been looking at 2D shapes and their properties. We have also looked at what materials would work best when making a boat and we tested them for size and strength. Today the children really enjoyed balancing their bodies and making different types of bridges for their friends to slide under.
