Y3 Pendle fun with AR and VR!
Wed 11 Mar 2020Today when learning about Roman gladiators, Pendle Class used augmented and virtual reality to find out all about them. They used augmented reality to bring a gladiator image to life and then experienced the Colosseum through the VR headsets.

Y3 Pendle National Science week
Wed 11 Mar 2020The theme for National Science week this year is discovery so Pendle went outside on an invertebrate hunt. After each group chose one they had found to research. They researched what sort of habitat the animal was found in before going outside to build a new house for them!

Light Boxes in Rivington
Wed 11 Mar 2020As part of our Light unit in Science, Rivington were investigating how ligt allows us to see. We had different items hidden inside light boxes and allowed no light, then some light then a full torch beam inside and tried to guess what the items were. We discovered shiny reflective items like the marbles and spoons were easier to see than dark or dull items like the pens or blue tack.

Y3 Pendle - Learning about light and dark
Tue 10 Mar 2020As part of science topic, Pendle have learnt about light and dark. Using light boxes, which are blacked out boxes with a small hole in, the children looked to see what objects were inside. First they looked with no light, then a little light before shining a torch inside. They were able to discuss which objects were easier to see and why before finally revealing what was inside!

Day 2 - Breakfast at Hothersall Lodge

Y5 visit to Hothersall Lodge
Mon 09 Mar 2020What a fabulous first day we have all had and everyone is now fast asleep ! Unfortunately there is absolutely no internet signal anywhere, but rest assured we will post lots of photos on our return to school.

Y6 - CPR
Sun 08 Mar 2020Mr Lowe, a paramedic, came in on Friday to teach year 6 basic CPR as part of our topic on the circulatory system. It was more exhausting that the children anticipated!
