  • Geography Finding Continents - Year 2 Elm

    Oh what fun we had in Elm Class today when we all tried to find the continents and oceans .  Everyone really enjoyed trying to add post-it notes onto the blow up globes ! We discovered that the UK was in Europe and we found Antarctica quickly from our English Lessons too.
     

  • Year 4 - Networking - The difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web

    To finish the topic networking, the children in Year 4 were given the roles of newspaper reporters, reporting on ‘The difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web.’

    The children used green screen technology to create a newsroom background and the ‘presenter mode’ on the ‘Pages’ app to create a teleprompter.
     

  • Y3 Pendle Digital Art

    To start our digital art project based on Georgia O’Keefe, Pendle class went on a flower hunt around school. Once back in class, they used their photos to zoom in and crop them so they were in the same style as O’Keefe.

    Year 3 have been learning about Local Area Networks in Computing this half term. To show what they know, they created a human LAN and carried out various jobs such as saving work on the server, using the internet and printing. 

  • Mayan Experience in K2

    Year 6 enjoyed a day learning all about the Ancient Maya civilisation. They were able to handle artefacts, they learned all about the key events of the civilisation and some children were even given the honour of being a Mayan king or queen for the day! 

  • Baking Bread in K2 Class

    Before half term, K2 class channelled their inner Paul Hollywood to work in groups and bake some delicious bread rolls!  The children found and adapted the recipes, based on how they wanted their bread to taste. They then provided their own ingredients and made the bread completely independently. All of the bread looked delicious and got rave reviews! 

  • Digital Media - Y6

    Year 6 have been busy this afternoon perfecting their digital media skills. In our Art unit, we have explored the work of Mike Barrett and identified different effects to digitally manipulate images. This afternoon, Y6 created their final image (using PIXLr) which will then be combined to create a final self-portrait. We were very excited to be using the Apple pencils! More updates to follow…

  • Art trees in Elm Class

    We all had an amazing time when we completed our painting project .  We used watercolour pencils and brush to create a fantasy tree.  What an amazing job we did ! 
     

  • Growing beans in Reception

    We have planted our own beans and are keeping a diary of the changes each week. We have been using cubes to measure how tall they are and comparing the sizes. 

  • Fruit salad by Reception

    We read and discussed the story Handa’s Surprise. The children loved learning about all the different fruits and talking about where Different fruits can be grown. Yesterday we learnt how to chop fruit safely and made our own fruit salad. The children were fantastic at waiting their turn and sharing out the fruits.
