  • Saxon Artefact Exploration in Snowdon Class

    We had a really lovely History session, to develop our understanding of the lives of Saxon people we looked at a variety of artefact replicas. We tried to think about what the items were, what they were made of and how they may have been used in Saxon times. Good skills team Snowdon, it was lovely to listen to lots of discussions and sensible ideas being shared.

  • Stone Age Day- Year 3 Making mini shelters

    Year 3 had a fantastic time during Stone Age Day. We learnt about the types of houses that were used in the Stone Age and then used our Design and Technology skills to create our own mini Stone Age villages. We thought about what people would need when they decided where to build their house including heat, water and food. 

  • Stone Age Day - Making Fire

    Year 3 had a fantastic day today learning all about life in the Stone Age and practising some essential skills. One of these skills was how to make a fire. The children all successfully used a fire steel to start a fire which was very similar to how Stone Age people used flint stones. The children showed plenty of perseverance and determination and did an amazing job.

  • Maths in Ash Class

    We have made a great start in Maths in Year 1. We are focusing on place value this half term where we are learning how numbers to 10 can be made, written, ordered and split apart. We have also been finding one more and one less.
    We use lots of concrete resources to help us with our thinking and we discuss our ideas with each other when learning with a partner. 

  • First brass session for Snowdon class

    This week saw us taking part in our first brass session, we practiced blowing through a straw the we were allocated our instruments. We are learning how to assemble them and how to handle them. Hopefully, we’ll be ready to bring them home to play for parents soon. 

  • Self-portraits in Pendle Class

    Children in Pendle Class have settled so well into Year 3 and have been creating fantastic self-portraits! The children looked at their features carefully in the mirror and used tone effectively to add detail to their drawings.
