  • Year 5 Olympus - European Day of Languages

    Olympus class had a great time learning the German language. They wrote a description of themselves in German and many then had a go at speaking the language in front of the class, challenging their classmates to work out what they had said. Some even had a go at holding a short conversation with a partner. There are some amazing linguists in the class!

    Reception have enjoyed a Halloween themed week with lots of activities to support their physical, social and communication skills. We also experimented with bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice to make a potion and had Aadhya’s mummy come to talk to us all about the festival Diwali. At the end of the week, the children had a firework safety talk and made safety posters.  

  • European Languages Day in Ash Class

    Ash class have had the best day learning about Greece for our European Languages Day. We dressed in white and blue to represent the colours of the Greece flag and made our own flags to take home with us. We made olive leaf crowns to help us remember that the Olympic Games first took place in Greece and to remind us that olives are a traditional Greek food.

    We really enjoyed tasting lots of Greek food in the afternoon and found the word ‘tzatziki’ extremely funny!

  • European Day of Languages in Pendle Class

    Pendle class have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Denmark today. They came dressed in red and white to match the flag and spent the day learning all about the country. They identified where Denmark is on a map, found out key information and even looked at stories by Hans Christian Andersen. They put all their new knowledge into a keynote on their iPads, including some new phrases in Danish. 

  • European Languages Day in Cedar Class

    Cedar class have thoroughly enjoyed our European Languages  Day and learnt some new things about Greece. The children came to school dressed in blue and white and then coloured in the Greek flag 🇬🇷 to start the day.  They learnt some Greek phrases and used these to respond to the register, they even taught Mr.Caunce how to say ‘Good Morning’ in Greek. The children found Greece on a map, learnt a Greek dance and tasted some traditional Greek food. What an amazing day we have had.

  • PALS training in Snowdon class

    Tom from CSSP came in to deliver a workshop to Snowdon class yesterday. He talked to us about the qualities a good leader demonstrates. He taught us how to deliver simple activities to children so that we can spend time at lunchtime encouraging key stage one children to be active. 

  • Hindu dancing in Elm class

    The children in Elm class had a fantastic time learning about the Hindu culture and got to dress up in traditional dress. They all looked amazing! 

  • Hindu Dancing in Maple class

    During our multicultural week Maple class were able to participate in Hindu dancing. They really enjoyed it and as you can see they looked fantastic! 

  • Art club

    It’s been lovely to work with such enthusiastic children during our Tuesday art club. Mrs Chapman and Mrs Bullock have been thrilled to see the artists having a go and becoming more confident and creative!

  • Cultural Visit in Rivington

    We were all so excited to welcome Prags into Rivington this week to teach us lots about Hinduism. We were amazed by the beautiful pooja thali prayer plate and showed super thoughtfulness thinking about other religions with respect. We definitely enjoyed the lovely samosa treat at the end of the day. Thank you so much, Prags!
