Y5 - safer internet day
Thu 09 Feb 2023Year 5 investigated milestones to do with technology, for example when to have your first phone, when to have a device in the bedroom, when to livestream…These generated a great deal of discussion and debate! Further discussion ensured about age ratings and how long to be on devices. Everyone learnt a lot.

Pendle Class Safer Internet Day
Wed 08 Feb 2023Pendle Class celebrated Safer Internet Day by looking at different issues that children their age might deal with online. The children ordered them from most to least important for them which created plenty of great discussion. Then they discussed how they would feel if this happened to them but also how they would feel after they spoke to a trusted adult about this.

Cedar Class Safer Internet Day 2023
Wed 08 Feb 2023As part of Safer Internet Day we read 'Hanni and the Magic Window'.
We discussed, what to do when things happen online, for example, adverts, images popping up or when people ask for personal information. We discussed who we would ask for help and how we could keep ourselves safe.Together, we discussed what images are safe to share with loved ones, everyone or never.

Wed 08 Feb 2023We have been thinking about how we can keep ourselves safe online. The children showed their knowledge about scams, online bullying and fake news. They then organised ‘computing milestones’ in order from birth to 15.

Anglo Saxon Trip
Tue 07 Feb 2023Ben Nevis have had a wonderful day exploring what life was like in Anglo Saxon times.
They trained as Anglo Saxon warriors, foraged for foods, weaved and made clay pots, all essential skills in Anglo Saxon Britain.

Thu 02 Feb 2023The children have loved exploring the ice this month. They came up with lots of ideas of how to melt the ice. This created curiosity and ‘what if?’ questions. They wanted to pour different salts and liquids onto the ice to see if it would melt. We tried rock salt, sea salt, sand, food colouring, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar but came to the conclusion that heat was the best way to melt ice. We put ice in our artic small world have enjoyed melting it with our hands to turn it back into water.
