  • No Pen day in Cedar class

    Wed 25 Nov 2020 Mrs.Hacking

We have had a wonderful time without pens today.

We had to cut and stick our morning work, used counters and sheets to complete our subtraction sentences. In phonics, we said our sentences verbally and then had a wonderful guided reading session with lots of extra phonics work.

After lunch we practiced some of our songs and cut out all the parts for our DT work this term. Well done Cedar class.

  • Anti-Bullying Week in Rivington

Tue 17 Nov 2020 Miss Fowler
In recognition of Anti-Bullying week, Rivington Class have been thinking about how we are different and how our differences make us special. The children noticed how to link this idea to our own school motto and came up with our own anti-bullying motto. We personalised our handprints to showcase our likes, dreams and personality traits to create a wreath for our door.
  • Classification in Everest.

Tue 17 Nov 2020 Mrs Goodyear
Today Year 6 were working scientifically to classify items. They used their knowledge of grouping and sorting to find similar and different characteristics, before they created their own branching databases. It was fantastic to see their thinking and problem solving in action whilst working as a team. Well done Year 6.

  • A busy few days in Year 6

Mon 16 Nov 2020 Mrs Goodyear

Year 6 have certainly started the new half term with a fabulous work ethic. In the last week, there have been a number of key events which we have celebrated. Last Wednesday, during our guided reading session, we focussed our work on Remembrance after observing the two minute silence in class. The children analysed a narrative linked to the experiences of a soldier in war and then in the afternoon created a piece of art to reflect ‘War’. I think you will agree their final efforts are fantastic!

On Friday, we joined in with Joe Wicks to celebrate his final 20 minutes of live workout as part of the BBC Children in Need events. It certainly was great fun, especially in our pyjamas! In the afternoon, our PSHE session explored how ‘Together, we can make a difference.’

Today, Year 6 have perfected some of their gymnastics balances in our P.E. session and had an informative visit from Mr Bamber (our school technician) who gave us some great insight into his role within school and how the school network runs as part of our new computing topic. Well done Everest for a great start to our topics so far.

Olympus had great fun, and certainly got a workout, when we took part in the finale of Joe Wickes’ 24 hour workout (a few hours late) during our PE lesson.
