Year 6 have had a fantastic end to their art project. Over the last term, we have been learning about English artist Mark Hearld. After exploring his work and experimenting with techniques, year 6 created their final collage pieces with a focus on birds. They have worked extremely hard and we can’t wait to have them hanging in our classrooms. Well done Year 6!

  • Visitor in Maple Class

    Wed 12 Jan 2022

Maple class were so excited to continue their learning in RE about Judaism by having a Jewish visitor named Amy in class. She talked to us all about the Star of David and the Torah. We found out that the Torah is originally made from leather as there wasn’t any paper in the desert.
The children really enjoyed their talk and asked lots of interesting questions. We found out that the closest Synagogue to Amy is in St Anne’s.

  • Our Jewish Visitor visits Elm Class - Y2

Wed 12 Jan 2022 Miss Pearson

What an amazing morning we had when Amy came to visit us to tell us all about her faith. As a Jewish woman she was able to tell us about learning Hebrew as a Child at school so that she could say her prayers in Hebrew as well as reading the Torah Scroll.

She talked to us about the rituals of Shabbat which starts when the first three stars are spotted in the sky on Friday night, and she told us about the prayers she says whilst lighting the Shabbat candles.

Some children were able to try on some clothing, such as a kippah and a prayer shawl.

Finally we all had a go at writing a symbol for each of the 10 commandments in Hebrew.  We think you will agree we all did amazing well.

Thank you so much for visiting us Amy.  We had great fun !
