    Reception enjoyed a visit from ‘All Day Farm’. They learnt lots of facts about farm animals and how to care for them. The children particularly loved stroking, holding and feeding the animals.

    Maple class have loved getting outside to cool down and brush up on their acting skills over the last week. They have learnt and acted out the True Story of the Three Little Pigs and thought about stories from differing perspectives. The big question is…. Is the wolf really a bad guy, or was he framed?

    As part of our Science work, we have been learning about light and shadows. We carried out an experiment to find out what makes a shadow, using the vocabulary transparent, translucent and opaque. 

  • Pendle Class Geography fieldwork Formby coast

    Pendle Class had a fantastic geography fieldwork trip to Formby coast. We learnt about different wildlife in Formby including the rare natterjack toad and the red squirrel. We enjoyed walking up the sand dunes and going into the pine woods. Ranger Julie also taught us about erosion and sea defences. The day ended with a trip to Southport Eco Centre where we ate our lunch in the eco garden and recycled our rubbish. Of course, our favourite part of the trip was beach play, what a brilliant day was had by all! 

  • Year 2 learning about fire safety with the fire brigade

    Year 2 have had a visit by the fire brigade, who have taught us all about how to keep ourselves and our friends and family safe. We have learnt how to stop, drop and roll if our clothes were to ever catch fire and all the important jobs that the fire service do. We have learnt about the importance of having a fire plan both at school and at home.

    Olympus had a great afternoon exploring the woods, meadow and pond looking for different insects, amphibians and plants. They found a huge variety indicating a healthy ecosystem.

  • Maple class learning about the Islamic faith

    Maple class had a wonderful afternoon with Aisha, learning all about the Islamic faith. She taught us about the 5 pillars of Islam and even let us try on one of her hijabs. 
     

  • Y5 Mont Blanc outdoor science

    Mont Blanc have had a great time exploring the meadow, woods and pond for insects, amphibians and plants. They found a huge variety, indicating a healthy ecosystem. It was fascinating to see the different life stages of the tadpoles in our pond. They also planted seeds to look after at home.

    Maple class had a great morning, discovering how to create their very own stop motion animation, starting with creating their own flip book and then creating a real animation with Lego, using iMotion on the iPads. Thank you Ian Wilson for your expert guidance.
